The Tamaki Recreation Centre is a multi-purpose building that presented many challenges for Gibson O’Connor. A sprung wood floor, a unique curved roof shape and building over an existing netball court were just three of them. Other construction highlights included the installation of 12m-high Steeltek structural steel beams.
Despite a challenging programme, the building was opened on time and on budget, with the construction team putting finishing touches to the project behind the scenes as former Prime Minister Helen Clark cut the ribbon.
